Working from home has always held an element of allure for most regularly employed folk. For each legitimate home business opportunity there are dozens of scams and half baked schemes aimed at lightening your bankroll with no real return for you. Being successful or at least not getting fleeced takes vigilance and if you keep the following points in mind you should avoid getting stung.

Red flag number one should be the pay up front scheme. Anyone that requires you to pay a service, training or administration fee before you receive your “financial freedom in 90 days guaranteed” pack is to be avoided like the plague. No legitimate business opportunity will require this sort of payment.

The next no-no’s are the multitude of multi level marketing schemes. If you like to spend your life alienating your friends and family and running around like crazy trying to recruit a sizable downline just to end up getting very little income at best, then pyramid schemes are for you. If not, stay away.

This is usually where the snake oil specialists start to employ diversionary tactics. They will inundate you with testimonials of guys who facing imminent ruin and then became business moguls overnight. If they won’t give you the goods before you have introduced them to your Amex card, hit delete straight away.

I’m not suggesting that the online home business idea is not feasible, but one does have to sleep with one eye open when it comes to buying into these opportunities. And remember the no free lunch analogy. Schemes that promise huge amounts of income for 2 hours work a week – Yeah right!!!
